Chelbug Fest 2020

Lafayette, Louisiana – Chelbug Fest was started three years ago as a family get-together that grew into a non-profit organization to honor the life of Chelsea Carriere, a local resident of Lafayette who was diagnosed at birth with Nemoline Myopathy Muscular Dystrophy. Chelsea died at the age of 27 in October of 2017 due to the progression of her diagnosis, but her legacy to advocate and increase inclusion for individuals with disabilities continues on through Chelbug Fest each year.

Saturday, March 21st of 2020, Chelbug Fest will be hosting their third annual festival at the St. Peter and Paul Knights of Columbus location at 123 Lions Club Road in Scott, Louisiana. Gates will open at 7:30 AM when chili cook-off teams will fire up their pots, then live music will follow at 10:30 AM and last until 4:00 PM.

All funds raised at the annual festival benefit local families impacted by Muscular Dystrophy,
and assist in making Camp Starlite, a summer camp for Louisiana children with Muscular
Dystrophy, possible.

Community members can purchase entry to enjoy entertainment acts including live music and dance team performances while participating in chili taste testing, sign up a team to compete in the chili cook off, win door prizes through competitions, purchase items through a silent and live auction, while children enjoy fun jumps and other activities, too!
