“Helping to Preserve and Promote Our Cajun Heritage and Music”

The “Battle of the Bows” Cajun Fiddle Competition is an annual musical performance competition open to all Cajun Style Fiddle Playing and has become the Premier Cajun Fiddle Competition in this area.

This event is put on as collaboration between the SW LA Acoustic Cajun Music Jam and the Jefferson Davis Parish Tourist Commission.

This year’s event will be held on November 4, 2023.

The “Battle of the Bows” Cajun Fiddle Competition is held each year at the historic Strand Theater in the beautiful downtown historic district in Jennings, LA.

Categories for competitors include Youth , Junior, Adult, Senior, and Professional in the individual competition. Then the fiddle players team up for some Twin Fiddle competition in the same categories of Youth, Junior, Adult, Senior, and Professional.

It is FREE to enter. All contestants will receive a free t-shirt and small gift package. Winners of the competition will receive a trophy, a cash prize, and bragging rights for 1 year. All first place winners can come back and defend their title the next year for one year. A cash prize of $ 4,625.00 will be divided among the 1St, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each category. A panel of three judges will judge the competition. All judges are accomplished Cajun musicians. Good sportsmanship is expected. The decision of the judges is final.

Doors open at 8:00am. Competition starts at 9:00am.

Deadline for entering is Wednesday November 4, 2023. You must register to compete in the competition by the Wednesday November 4, 2023 deadline.

Each year the “Battle of the Bows” Cajun Fiddle Competition is dedicated in memory of a Cajun fiddle player. This years “Battle of the Bows” Cajun Fiddle Competition is dedicated in memory of the Legendary Cajun Fiddle Player Mr. Lawrence “Blackie” Fruge.
