Without her wedding to Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert might never have had “Mama’s Broken Heart.”

Miranda’s latest single was written by Kacey Musgraves, who has a hit of her own with “Merry Go ‘Round.” The two are both from Texas and reconnected at Blake & Miranda’s rehearsal dinner, where Kacey’s sister was the photographer.

“At our rehearsal dinner, I went over and asked her, I was like, ‘Are you gonna cut this song, or can I have it?’” Miranda tells The Country Vibe. “And she was like, ‘I’ll think about it for a couple of days.’”

In the end, Kacey emailed Miranda with a deal. She could cut the song if Kacey could sing harmony.

“I had to actually beg for this song, and so I’m thankful that she gave it to me ’cause I love ‘Mama’s Broken Heart.’” Miranda says. “It’s an awesome song, and it’s been goin’ really well live, and I plan on makin’ an awesome video for it.”
